Michael's Birthday Party!

Today was Michael's birthday and we had a few people over to help him celebrate his birthday with him. He had a blast and loved almost every minute of it!

He was super tired when we decided to open presents with him, he just wanted to move around and play with everything while Mommy unwrapped his presents, and when I tried to get him to help he would throw a fit, because it was past nap time, and because he had a late nap, a late dinner, and he just went to bed.

I've put some of his birthday photos below, and here's a link to all the photos we took today, and probably tomorrow or later this week I'll try to upload the few short videos we made today with him as well!

More Bath Time Pictures!

Since I really can't think of anything to say (because nothing exciting is going on in my boring life), but I want to update my blog, so I don't fall behind again, I decided to share some more bath time pictures of Michael with you all (sorry for the red eye, and he sure does love bubbles!).

Oh! I thought of something new and exciting I haven't shared yet! I finished my taxes the other day and even though we only made $1,700 last year (and yet we are having trouble getting on cash assistance, go figure!!), we got $683 back this year! Woot!

If it wasn't for our Son it only would have been $96, now I can at least afford his new clothes and car seat he needs and get him something for his birthday too! =)

Sippy Cup Pro!

On Tuesday we bought Michael a Gerber soft spout sippy cup, because the previous $0.96 sippy cup I purchased at Walmart was a really rough transition for him, he wasn't able to drink from it and would get so mad!

Anyway, he became a sippy cup pro immediately! I handed him the sippy cup with his formula in it, and he just picked it up with both hands as if he had been drinking out of it since birth! And since he's getting the same amount of formula, we see no need to give him a bottle anymore, which is good, since he will be drinking whole milk next month! It's going good so far.

(no camera handy on Tuesday, so I took the picture today).

On Wednesday I gave Michael his first hair cut, most of the difference is in the font, so I saw no need to take pictures of the back too... and with how much he was moving around, I think I did pretty good! I also saved the first lock cut for his baby book!

After:

And although most of the pictures in this post were taken today, I decided to share a few more... after all, he is the cutest baby in the world! =)

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention, he LOVES bath time again!

1st Birthday Invites

In December I made some party invites that I thought I was going to use for Michael's first birthday, but today, during a large portion of the day, our Internet was shut off, so I decided to doodle in Paint Shop Pro, and I ended up drawing a cute little monkey.

Then I thought of it! It was a brilliant and unique party invitation idea! Since I decided that I'm making him banana flavored monkey faced cupcakes with cream cheese frosting dyed brown for his birthday, I might as well stick to the monkey theme (or a zoo theme at least)!

I got the cupcake idea from:

So here are the party invites I made, and even already passed out! (Click on the image to make it larger).

The envelope looks like:

(the one with his name on it goes in his baby book).

Yo Mama, I got this!

My Son has decided peek-a-boo is the funnest game ever! He loves it so much, and has taught himself how to cover his face with the blanket himself and lower it again while Mommy says peek-a-boo!! =) It's so adorable!

He's becoming such a big little person! Too fast I tell you! Too fast!!! =(

Guess what? More pictures!

I've been meaning to post these photos on here for awhile (since Human Light actually), but never got around to it, well, that's not exactly true, because I did try uploading them before, but my camera software kept freezing.

And I just remembered last night that my printer has a memory card slot, cool huh? So I uploaded them super easy that way, so here we go, what a cutie! He got this outfit for "Christmas" from the Salvation Army and he actually "opened" it on Human Light! It was so nice for him to receive an outfit and a toy to boot!

Kiddo Update

At almost 9 months old, our little guy is growing up way too fast for me! He's talking a lot more saying "Mama" and "Dada" which has now transformed into "Dadaddy"... which is out right adorable! He's crawling in his own special way, partially on his hands and knees and partially on his hands and feet. He's also laughing incredibly loud, which I would categorize more as a happy squeal, and also screaming happily like a little girl would, lol.

He currently has 6 teeth (four top middle, and two bottom, middle), and two more on the way (up top)... and is doing excellent with self-feeding, he absolutely loves his apple wagon wheels and toast. He loves to spin in our office chair, and he really loves to be around the both of us at the same time. Although he still hasn't gotten used to bath time... he loved it at one point, but he hates it now, and he's deathly afraid of bubbles!

Planning a Party

I'm going insane about Michael's first birthday party and how to go about planning such a big event! I know it's still four months away but that honestly doesn't seem like a very long time to plan everything perfectly. I know he won't remember it when he's older, but I want it to be perfect!

I want to bake him red velvet cupcakes (but I need to talk to the doctor about giving him chocolate and eggs), I want to decorate the room with streamers, balloons, a birthday banner, bubbles, kazoos, and for presents get him a gymnastic bounce and spin zebra, some books and a few smaller toys aswell, in total I'm thinking about $150, is that too much? Keep in mind his Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents probably won't buy him anything.

I've also already made his invitations, well, I haven't printed them out, but I have made the image already (which is below), but I truly don't think his Aunt and Unlce here will come celebrate with us, but his Grandparent's don't have a choice...

The image for the invite is larger, but isn't it cute?

Baby's Day Poem

I thought I would write out a schedule to help my Hubby remember to brush our babys teeth and gums after breakfast, and help me remember to give him a bath more often, so I decided to have a little fun with it and turn it into a poem (never been too good at making them rhyme), the bold text is for when we need a quick glance at baby's schedule! And I made it look cute for placement on our bulletin board, and a second copy for his baby book! Tell me what you think.

Baby's Day Poem

In the morning when you wake,
We fill your tummy for your sake,
Then we brush those teeth of yours,
Once we're done, it's time to play!

Playing does get tiring though,
Kicking and moving all over the floor,
As those little eyes of yours close,
Mommy can tell, Mommy knows.

Oh Look! Your awake now!
It's time for Lunch, oh Wow!
Yay! We get to play again,
You love to play and to learn!

Once again it's time to sleep,
Don't blame us! You look beat!
Rest those eyes, it will be alright.
Not much changes, just repeats.

As you wake, your tummy moans,
Your tummy says "it's dinner time"!
Daddy knows, he can tell.
"Yummy"! your tummy screams in delight.

After a little more playtime,
The sun starts to drift off to sleep,
It's bathtime, hope the waters not too deep!
Oh! And don't forget to brush those teeth!

After your all clean, it's quiet time,
Pick a book, and let's read together,
Storytime can be fun, but "Shhh!",
Bedtime follows very soon.

Kisses and hugs, it's sleepy time...
Tuck, tuck, tuck you in,
We love you! Goodnight...
Tomorrow is a new wonderful day!
