Why do women want to look plastic?

Everywhere I turn I'm seeing fake plastic Barbie dolls and it makes me want to gag. What kind of world are we creating for our children letting them think that if you don't like the way you look that it's ok because you can just go under the knife?

Some women argue that surgery makes them feel better about themselves and therefore happier, but I think they've been conned. If you're not happy and comfortable with yourself, no amount of needles or scalpels will make a difference.

What ever happened to "your beautiful just the way you are" and people truly meaning it? Now it's all about getting breast implants, breast lifts, face lifts, chin lifts, tummy tucks, revisional nose surgery, etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great invention, and can be used in many wonderful ways, but it has definitely turned in to some kind of weird cult like addiction for a lot of people in our society today.

Just about everyone I know has had some work done (implants, Botox, tummy tucks, lifts, etc.) to correct what they perceive to be imperfections. Most of them are happy with the results and walk with a spring in their steps.

I said I wouldn't do it, but I keep looking at my belly sticking over my pants and wondering. I'm holding steady for now, but......

The most I think I would ever get done would probably be getting a mole removed, but I don't consider that "getting something done"...

On topic, something funny that happened to me today:

I was standing behind my hubby today while he was fixing his hair for photos, and I was playing with my nose in the mirror and asked him "what would you say if I wanted to get a nose job"? His response was "only if I can have a second wife", which if you knew him means "no".

I'd have to have some serious deformities working to go under the knife. Now, when I turn 40, I will be a Botox Barbie for sure, but I don't think I want to have them cutting me open.

Oh of course, if I get into some sort of life changing accident that will require me to get plastic surgery to make me look closer to the way I did before the accident, I would totally go for it.
