Anyway, finding this out and talking to her about it a little, and the fact that I'm looking for a job, got me thinking a little bit. When I'm able to afford my "diet" food, which basically means that when I can afford to buy my own food (since my MIL is letting us have room and board for free til' we get back on our feet, well, at least get some money), that I'm going to start eating healthier so I can lose weight (I'm already trying to get my portions under control), and in that eating healthier, I'll be able to afford to eat 5-6 small meals a day, including Slim Fast as two of my meal replacements...
Anyway, I'm getting a bit off track, so let's start over a bit, "finding this out and talking to her about it a little, and the fact that I'm looking for a job, got me thinking a little bit"... when I can afford it, since I was going to only eat chicken and fish anyways (for health purposes), that I might as well cut out the chicken all together while I'm at it.
And after watching a video at Kentucky Fried Cruelty (which I posted below this post) kind of made me not want to eat chicken, I already don't eat at KFC because I hate the food there, and I can make better, cheaper, healthier food for my family.
I currently don't eat beef, but I'm not too sure I can live without a good ham sandwich! =) Selfish aren't I? Heck, I would only be in it for the health advantages anyhow. I don't think I could do it. I love chicken and pork, but I can live with less of it in my diet too I suppose... and I also love fish and shrimp! Mmm. Also, even though I'm lactose intolerant, I can't live without dairy either. Ok, so maybe it won't work out too well for me... =)
You know though, one thing I don't understand about some vegetarians "preaching" about not eating and meat or animal product is (you know the really anal ones), some of them think they are doing it for the animal, but in all honesty, just as many animals are going to be slaughtered whether they eat them or not... and buy them not purchasing the products, the animals lives, whether they were short lived, or whether they died a cruel death, are just going to be in vain since any product not sold will just be thrown away.
